Artist's Comments

I've finally gotten a picture of William done, thanks in large part to :iconsupersmashbros-oc: for motivation.

William is inspired -heavily- by the PC rpg/adventure series "Quest for Glory" by Sierra. In the game, you take the position of a fledgling adventurer who wants to be a hero. I've talked about it more in my journal entry "Nostalgia Trip of Glory" [link]

William himself, however, became more than just my character for this game, since I've re-made him a number of times for other games/rpgs (like Chronicles of Amber, Dungeons and Dragons, and far more). He's essentially become my main avatar for all things online, as well (if you couldn't tell by my DA name...).

In the middle is William in battle-pose. On the right are the front-view of his face, and of his shield. On the left is his Smash Brothers 'Battle Icon' (like it shows by your health and after winning). The various coloring notes are there because part of the SSBOC deal is that a picture is drawn for each fight, so that's for their benefit, since I'm too lazy to color it myself. :)

Another pic I'm slightly more proud of can be found here:

As always, any artistic tips are welcome.

Smash Brothers is copyright Nintendo

Ooh, nice Quest for Glory Paladin character! :D
:iconpaladinwillsteel:
Thank you! You don't think he's too much, do you?
:iconjonnyblackmage:
Well the Smash move is just a little bit overkill (then again, so is mine... ^^;) but no, he's just fine! :D
:iconpaladinwillsteel:
Maybe if I just made the area affect smaller?
:iconjonnyblackmage:
Hmm, try having it affective in large environments, but weak in COLOSSAL areas.
:iconpaladinwillsteel:
Hm... name me some examples of large vs colossal from SSB Melee, so I can picture what you're talking about.
:iconjonnyblackmage:
Hmm, Melee... even though there aren't any Final Smashes in THAT game, but I'll fit in some stages that you're familiar with...

Lucas's PK Star Storm in Brawl: It's perfect when the stage is small (But still large.) like the Standard Battlefield or the Yoshi's Story stages, but it's not as great when it's used in HUGE stages like Big Blue or Hyrule Temple. [link]

...did that help?
:iconpaladinwillsteel:
Don't remember which stages Big Blue and Standard Battlefield are, but I do know Yoshi's Story and Hyrule Temple. It helps.
:iconjonnyblackmage:
Big Blue is the secret F-Zero stage and the Battlefield is the stage that you fight the Wireframes and Metal Fighters. (I.E.: Metal Mario, Metal Kirby, Metal Captain Falcon, and the like.)

:aww:
